She either served or deaconed at all the main services from Maundy Thursday, through Good Friday to the Easter Vigil at St Mary Magdalene’s in the City. She rejoiced in singing the Exsultet, the Easter Praises at the Easter Vigil at dawn after a 4.15 am rise.   This was followed by a Gala Breakfast.

This year, Sr Juliana sang the narrator’s part on Palm Sunday .

The Sisters attended the Sung Eucharist on Easter Day at St. Francis of Assisi, Clarence Gardens, Sr. Juliana’s last parish as parish priest. They are continuing to enjoy the Easter week. !

The Feast of the Annunciation

The Sisters of the Incarnation celebrated the Feast of the Annunciation on Sunday March 24 at St Francis of Assisi, Clarence Gardens.      Around 60 people from all the parishes where the Sisters have worked gathered for Festal Evensong, with Sr Juliana as the Officiant and Fr Gary Priest the Preacher.

Lesley Lewis was the organist, and Jen Dickenson and Sr Juliana sang the Anthem, I waited for the Lord, Mendelssohn.

Everyone enjoyed the sumptuous high tea in the St Francis Community Centre afterwards, served by the members of the parish, and there was much catching up and renewing old friendships.

Christmas 2018

Christmas in Adelaide this year was very hot, as it can be. However, we were prepared in time.

Christmas Eve service at St Francis of Assis, Clarence Gardens, Sr Juliana’s last parish. Sr Juliana celebrated the Christmas morning eucharist at St Mary Magdalene’s.

Then we celebrated with a special morning tea at home; see Miss Daisy below after she opened her presents….she loves the paper as much as the contents.

Sr Patricia was the cook for a beautiful Christmas Dinner in the mid afternoon, before Evensong and a welcome nap.

The Christmas season was enjoyable for many days, though the heat continued. We cooked Christmas dinner again on Holy Innocents for Bishop Keith Rayner, our Visitor.

30th Anniversary

On October 1st 2018, the Sisters of the Incarnation marked the 30th anniversary of the making of their profession of life intention within the Community. October 1st 1988 had been the first time vows had been able to made within the Community and marked the movement of the community from its formation phase to its establishment as a religious community. The vows were received in St Peter’s Cathedral by the then Visitor, Archbishop Keith Rayner, with many friends from the Sisters’ journey present. We celebrated after with morning tea in the Cathedral garden.

This thirtieth anniversary was marked by a eucharist in our chapel, and a celebratory meal.

The Sisters' Annual Festival of the Annunciation

On Sunday April, over 50 friends from all the parishes where the Sisters have worked gathered for the 36th anniversary of the foundation of the community.   Sr Juliana was the officiant at the traditional Evensong for the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary at St Francis of Assisi,  with the Rev'd Andrea McDougall, the recently arrived parish priest, as the preacher.   The singing was amazing as usual as the congregation sang the hymns of the Annnunciation and the Incarnation.

After Evensong, everyone moved to St Francis Community Centre for a sumptuous, though not healthy, High Tea, where there was much catching up with old friends.

It is a long tradition which we hope will continue as all seem to enjoy the celebration.

December 5th 2017 marked the 25th anniversary of the ordination of the first women to the priesthood in Australia after the passing of the General Synod Canon.

Sr Juliana was one of the five.   Three of the women, (pictured on the left concelebrated the Eucharist with Archbishop Geoff Smith, the present Archbishop of Adelaide, at St John's Halifax Street, with 140 friends and supporters.

It was a great occasion, with beautiful music and enthusiastic singing.   A fabulous supper followed afterwards.
